Our Favorite Locations for Seattle Wedding Portraits

Where should we go for our wedding portraits? We love helping our couples decide what location is right for them when it comes to one of our favorite parts of the day: the portrait session.

After capturing getting ready photos, most coupes meet up for a "first look," which we always recommend. It's the first time you'll see each other all dressed up in your wedding clothes, and it always makes for a beautiful, emotional moment to capture on camera. It's here that your couples wedding portrait session will usually begin. So, where to start?

Freeway Park

Freeway Park is a unique urban park atop Interstate 5 between downtown Seattle and First Hill. Concrete structures, water features and lush greenery create unique backdrops for your portraits.

Occidental Square

Located in the heart of historic Pioneer Square, Occidental Park is shaded by a canopy of lush London Plane trees in the summertime. Though these trees lose their leaves in the fall, they gain the sparkle of thousands of twinkling lights in the fall and wintertime. The square is also surrounded by historic brick buildings.

Nord Alley

Many of our couples have used the historic alley right behind AXIS Pioneer Square as an extension of their wedding celebrations. The brick corridor works as is, or spruced up as a lounge for you and your guests.

Olympic Sculpture Park

Part art gallery, part waterfront park, this sprawling 9-acre park offers a wide variety of backdrops and plenty of room to roam.

Gas Works Park

In addition to having one of the best views of downtown Seattle across Lake Union, complete with the Space Needle, Gas Works Park also features funky Willy Wonka-ish structures (the park was built on the site of the former Seattle Gas Light Company gasification plant), bright green fields for frolicking and just enough trees to suddenly feel like you're hiking in the woods.

Downtown Seattle

We know a couple sneaky spots to capture stunning downtown views of Seattle while managing to feel like you've got the city to yourself.

We recommend at least an hour for couples portraits before asking your bridal party to join in the fun. Our photographers work closely with each of our couples to create a photography plan best suited to your individual aesthetic, the weather and your wedding day schedule.
